Vic Elford's new ventures
VIC's THIRD Book "Reflections on a Golden Era in Motorsport" published by Vic is also available for special appearances, speeches, driving instruction and coaching, autograph sessions, merchandising, driving demonstrations including "hot laps" & other special or corporate events to accomodate your needs. Please contact Vic for further information.
Vic is now offering an extensive collection of Memorabilia composed of autographed photos, posters, art prints, books and a NICHOLAS WATTS GALLERY. This exciting collection was made possible thanks to PORSCHE, Michael Keyser, Bill Oursler, Jack Webster and many others. A great thank you to all the drivers who graciously signed items for the collection: Mario Andretti, Kurt Ahrens, Richard Attwood, Derek Bell, Dan Gurney, Jim Hall, Hans Herrmann, David Hobbs, Jacky Ickx, Gérard Larrousse, Brian Redman, Clay Regazzoni, Nino Vaccarella to name a few... Make sure to visit the store before you leave... and Anita's Ebay store. Here are a few comments on Vic's recent appearances... "Thank you! You were terrific at the event and all the Porsche people around here will be talking about your visit for quite some time." "The Kreuzers SpeedFest was an overwhelming success! racing legend Vic Elford was a sell out. He enamored the crowd with his stories and conversation. Often referred to as "Quick Vic" for his driving prowess, Vic's wit was even quicker. He stayed late and autographed many items, delighting the faithful..."Porsche Owners Club of Santa Monica (published about the event in their magazine): "The room fell stone silent as our guest speaker Vic Elford casually told of racing at the pinnacle of the sport. The spins at Daytona, flying down the Mulsanne straight and filming "LeMans" with Steve McQueen. Vic was a fascinating story-teller and every person in the room was mesmerized by his humble delivery of heroic events... Vic ROCKED!!"
June 2008 Once again, we had the pleasure to be invited to the retro running of this great event. Organized by the Veteran Car Club Panormus of Sicily, the event is remarkable for its interesting roads, making a complete tour of Sicily including a stop at the Syracuse racetrack, with a separate running of the Little Madonie circuit of the Targa. Solitude Revival - June 2008 A garden party weekend celebrating the Solitude Ring circuit and the 80th birthday of Paul-Ernst Strähle, Herbert Linge and Hans Herrmann.
February 2008 In 1968 Vic won the Monte Carlo Rally in a Porsche 911. It was the first victory for Porsche in the classic event and incredibly, the last one for a British driver! Now, forty years later, Vic just took part in the Rallye Monte Carlo Historique driving a 1970 Porsche 2.2 litre 911 owned by French enthusiast Eric Martin and superbly prepared by Denis Fruleux in his Garage du Baus-Roux. The Automobile Club de Monaco put together an outstanding event featuring winning drivers from 1968 (Vic Elford/David Stone), 1978 (Jean-Pierre Nicolas) and 1988 (Bruno Saby/Jean-François Fauchille) covering the classic routes from the past in the Ardeche, the Vercors and the Alps, fininshing with a last passage over the Col du Turini which is so synonymous with the Monte. They even organized an entire day of snow which has been conspicuous by its absence in recent years! The same "special stages" have now become "regularity tests" and not being used to driving slowly to win, Vic finished 209th! Slightly better than his friend Gérard Larrousse who finished 257th in 2000!
A day at Retromobile Vic also attended the Retromobile in Paris: a morning of interviews for French press, a lunch date with Porsche France, more photos and autographs in the afternoon and a cocktail party on the Porsche stand... and a reunion with old team mate and friend Kurt Ahrens!

I just wish we had more time - like about 2 days - to hear all of them! :-)"
Happy Birthday Vic! During his visit at the Kreuzers SpeedFest,
Tribute to Jim Hall and Chaparral - August 2005 August 2005 saw the "Tribute to Jim Hall and Chaparral" at the Rolex Monterey Historics at Laguna Seca where Vic had the pleasure to be reunited with Jim Hall and the fabulous Chaparral 2J. After some minor problems, the "sucker car" was finally persuaded to run perfectly on Sunday, when no less than five Chaparrals were on track at the same time, led, of course, by the great engineer/innovator/driver Jim Hall. Vic drove the Chaparral 2 on Saturday and the 2J on Sunday.
Zippo US Vintage GP of Watkins Glen 2005 - September 2005 Vic had the pleasure to be Grand Marshal for the weekend in Watkins Glen.
2004 Porsche Rennsport II - April 2004 Once again I had the privilege of being invited to Porsche Rennsport II
April showers?
Not at Daytona Beach, where Porsche Cars North America in association with Brian Redman's Intercontinental Events put on an incredible weekend of Porsche racing history. Drivers from all eras of Porsche success were present, together with engineers and mechanics from Germany. Many are now retired, but still find it difficult to stay away from such a gathering. Just the poster announcing the event brought back memories, with my #54 leading a trio of 907 longtails across the finish line to score Porsche's first ever outright long distance victory, with the drivers from all three cars filling the podium! From the photo of me with Jacky Ickx you can see that even the wrinkles haven't changed us very much. More than 500 Porsches were on track at some time or other (how Brian and his staff managed to control them all is almost beyond imagination). Not least was the beautiful 908/3 with which Gérard Larrousse and I won the Nurburgring 1000 kms in 1971. Now owned and recently restored to it's original condition by Reinhold Joest, the car looked absolutely stunning . I also had the great honor of being invited to be the guest speaker at the VIP dinner on Saturday evening, reminiscing on Porsche and Daytona from that very first victory to the many that followed.
Giro di Sicilia/Targa Florio Reunion - June 2004 For the second time, Anita and I were invited to the retro running of this outstanding event. Organized by the Veteran Car Club Panormus of Sicily, the event is remarkable for it's interesting roads, making a complete tour of Sicily, with a separate running of two laps of the Little Madonie circuit of the Targa Florio. This year's event featured Alfa Romeo as the featured marque and they came in all shapes and ages. The organizers and invited guest drivers were all provided with current Alfas - mine was an Alfa GT, a beautiful looking car with REAL Alfa performance. Guest drivers included Nino Vacarrella and Clay Regazzoni driving his own Ferrari Daytona, as well as Jean Guichet, Gérard Larrousse, Jean-Claude Andruet and myself. The welcome and hospitality afforded by the Sicilian club is absolutely superb and we all had a great time.
The Goodwood Festival of Speed - July 2004 For the second time I was invited to the Goodwood Festival of Speed and Lord March's annual extravaganza of cars and drivers. More spectators during the weekend than the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, with an added attraction for the public - they can actually visit the garage and paddock areas, photograph their favorite cars and drivers up close, even talk to them! Imagine that at a modern professional race meeting. Brian Redman and I drove Porsche 908s, his being the 908/2 that won the Targa Florio in 1969 with Mitter and Schutz driving and mine the 908/3 that Pedro Rodriguez and Leo Kinnunen took to second place in 1970. There was action and nostalgia galore for the fans. From Jensen Button in the latest BAR F1 car that needed a small army of engineers and mechanics just to start the engine and get it running to Jacques Villeneuve driving the Ferrari with which his father won his first Grand Prix, in Canada in 1979 on the circuit which now bears his name.
